ABOUT

The HorizonVertical Dance Company, created from the initiative of Léa Thomen in 2014 in Lorraine - France, develop artistic exchanges where different fields of contemporary art interact with each other. Dance, the driving force behind the company's artistic activities, dialogues with all forms of expression, art, poetry, circus art, music, visual arts with the intention of opening dialogue between people. Léa Thomen is particularly interested and fascinated by the moment when these disciplines meet, when a space of interactivity is created in which the choreographer's multidisciplinary artistic universe can be fully explored. Since 2018, the company has been developing projects beyond its borders, focusing on Franco-Swiss cooperation. The Company received the Förderpreis Choreografie from TanzPlan Ost 2018 and the Société Suisse des Auteurs for the piece "Nachtfeder". In order to broaden its horizons and to make its projects in Switzerland sustainable, the HorizonVertical Company is since 2019 officially active in the region of Thurgau (CH). "Masque-et-toi" is the first production to be produced and created in Switzerland.

ARTISTIC DIRECTOR

LÉA THOMEN - is a Swiss-based French artist who lives in Winterthur, Switzerland. At the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen, Germany, she completed a Master of Arts in Dance Composition program. She has collaborated with choreographers like Sarah Lisette Chiesa, Mark Sieczkarek, Jesse Zaritt, Urs Dietrich, Henrietta Horn, and Vanessa Voskuil. She started producing her own work in 2014. She was awarded the "Förderpreis Choreography" of the TanzPlan Ost Festival 2018 and La Société Suisse des Auteurs for the piece "Nachtfeder," which was created in 2017 in collaboration with Linda Pilar Brodhag. She established the Kompanie HorizonVertical in Thurgau in 2019 after it was founded in France in 2014. In 2020, TanzPlan Ost 2020, Phönix Theater Steckborn, and Théâtre Maison d'Elsa | Cie du Jarnisy (FR) co-produce her first solo production in Switzerland, "Masque-et-toi." She graduated from the HES-SO Valais-Wallis with a Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy in December 2022.
